Rich Pyrah, Yorkshire all-rounder, has left the cricket wickets behind him for the last time, hanging up his bat and ball in order to take on a coaching role at the Yorkshire club from October.

The 32-year-old, from Dewsbury, will be working with all teams from age-group cricket right through to the seniors.

“I have had a wonderful career with Yorkshire and enjoyed every aspect of it,” Pyrah said. “I’m ready to offer my experience to every aspect of Yorkshire cricket – from developing the ever-increasing young talent that continues to flourish through age-group cricket and working with senior players.”

Pyrah made his limited-overs debut for the county back in 2004 and since then has made 118 appearances in List A matches, scoring some 1,084 runs. He received his Yorkshire cap in 2010, the same year that his bowling claimed 20 wickets in the 40-over tournament. He also succeeded in making 304 first-class runs in seven matches during the T20 campaign.

This news comes as Yorkshire announces that Moin Ashraf, Jonny Tattersall and Dan Hodgson will be released from the club once their contracts come to an end.

Ashraf has been with the club for five years, with his best season back in 2012 when he led Yorkshire’s attack during the T20 to reach finals day before losing to Hampshire in the final.

Hodgson has been wicketkeeper batsman since 2012, playing a major part in the Champions League appearance in South Africa. And Tattersall, former England under-19s batsman, helped his country reach the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup in the UAE, also making one List A appearance for Yorkshire in 2013 against Glamorgan at Headingly.
