Calling all international cricket fans currently enjoying a bat about at the indoor cricket nets – BT Sport has just announced that it has secured the rights to show all of Australia’s Test matches, Twenty20 games and one-day internationals, part of a five-year deal with Cricket Australia.

But that’s not all for the good news this week – the channel will also be showing daily highlights from the Big Bash League and other international matches. However, if you want to watch both the 2017-2018 Ashes and the 2019 tournament, you’ll have to have access to Sky Sports as well as BT Sport, since the 2019 series rights are held by Sky, the BBC reports.

Apparently, BT Sport has shelled out £80 million to secure the deal with Cricket Australia, with the agreement starting in October next year with the home Test series down under against South Africa.

“BT Sport put forward a highly compelling bid for the rights to broadcast cricket from Australia to audiences throughout the United Kingdom,” Ben Amarfio, executive general manager with Cricket Australia, said, adding that the company’s reach into over five million homes in the UK was one of the deciding factors.

If you don’t already have BT Sport at home, there are various packages available to you. For example, you could opt for the £5 a month deal if you buy it alongside BT Broadband. Without BT Broadband it’ll set you back £19.99 a month. Or you could go for the free package if you get it with BT TV.
